Since its inaugural release in 2015, Elsevier’s Highly Cited Chinese Researchers list has become a benchmark for academic impact. Now in its 11th edition, the 2024 ranking draws exclusively from Scopus, a globally authoritative citation and abstract database, to analyze the academic output and influence of scholars in China. The list is widely recognized and cited by both domestic and international media and academic communities.

This year’s list spans 10 broad academic fields and 83 first-level disciplines as defined by China’s Ministry of Education, offering a more comprehensive view of the country’s research landscape. It also highlights the distinctive academic strengths of regionally specific sub-disciplines, bringing increased visibility to scholars who have demonstrated exceptional contributions in these areas.
