Zhishan College Hosts Spring 2025 Semester Faculty Exchange Forum

On May 8th, Zhishan College held its Spring 2025 Semester Faculty Exchange Forum. The event brought together Dean Tang Ke, Associate Dean Jin Jun, Head of the Student Affairs Group Sun Zhen, and 22 faculty mentors from diverse academic disciplines. The forum, chaired by Dean Tang, aimed to explore new directions and pathways for the College’s student development efforts.

In his opening remarks, Dean Tang expressed heartfelt gratitude to all mentors for their unwavering support, which has been instrumental in the College’s educational achievements. He emphasized the College’s commitment to interdisciplinary development and broadening students' academic horizons. To this end, he announced the planned introduction of two new undergraduate majors—Statistics and Data & Artificial Intelligence—for the Class of 2025. He also presented a detailed overview of the curriculum design for the Statistics program. Dean Tang warmly invited faculty members to actively participate in the College’s recruitment efforts to attract outstanding students to the Zhishan community.

Associate Dean Jin Jun followed with a presentation on the progress and outcomes of the College’s flagship experiential learning course, Global Deep Dive. He encouraged mentors to guide students in field-based research activities at the established bases, integrating theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience to enhance students’ research skills and overall competencies.

During the forum, mentors engaged in in-depth discussions on holistic, life-cycle-based student development. They shared valuable experiences on mentoring students in adapting to university life, conducting Student Research Training (SRT) and Undergraduate Innovation Programs, and participating in academic seminars. In response to evolving student needs, the College plans to roll out a series of initiatives, including curriculum briefings and exchange program presentations, to support students’ academic growth and career planning.

The successful convening of this forum not only fostered meaningful exchange among faculty mentors but also charted a clearer course for the College’s future educational endeavors. Zhishan College remains committed to strengthening its mentor-based educational model and uniting collective efforts to cultivate well-rounded, innovative, and practice-oriented talents.
